Grace as the best bestie ever
Grace and I have a bond that is eternal. We were blood sisters in a past life. Our 15 years of soul sister kinship, friendship and family by choice, feels like it was way too short, and yet, all the gratitude in the world for our shared time just doesn't quite cover it. I am blessed to have been able to have this deeper insight into Grace's beingness, as it makes it possible for me to continue to spread her wisdom and legacy in the world.
Grace was funny. Joy, laughter and giggles were frequent. As close as we were, we laughed about how we could never live together, as we would drive each other mad. And yet, an occasionally repeated joke of hers was, "If you had a penis I would marry you!" and "bummer that we're heterosexual!"
The level of trust, transparency, vulnerability, depth, kindness, support, mutual commitment to growth, and the joy and faith we had in our friendship was next level and then some. Add to that a very looooong list of extraordinary experiences, and truckloads of magic - how blessed I feel to have had such a magical 15 years of super-charged life expansion and evolution.
We had so many plans that we never got the chance to get to, including living on the same property, and doing a podcast together. However, as unexpected as this may sound, we will be working on a podcast together soon! It will include sharing lots of amazing and inspiring stories as part of our podcast.
After Grace 'croaked' (just to keep her irreverence about death intact), I got tapped from 'upstairs' to change my surname to Hart. I instantly dissolved into tears - it felt so beautiful, and so right. I don't know if it would otherwise have occurred to me, however, embracing it seemed an obvious choice given we were family, and that I had become guardian and 'spare mama bear' for her wonderful children. I have been in their lives since they were around 4 and 7 years old). I asked if it would be okay with them if I changed my name. I received a beautiful message with hearts, "Welcome to the family!" More tears!
While legally changing my surname, I also added 'Grace' as my second middle name.
I've put this website together to preserve her legacy all in one place, and add to it with new projects.
Soooo much more I could share, though for now, a few words and a few photos give a glimpse of Grace as the best bestie ever.
With eternal gratitude.
